Support Saltburn Folk Festival

​To all of our Saltburn Folk Festival friends - thank you for your continued support, and for being part of our community. 

 

Saltburn Folk Festival is a not-for-profit, community centred event run by a voluntary board, supported by a number of volunteers. We believe in paying artists and the freelancers we work with properly, and remain committed to providing a strong platform showcasing young and emerging artists alongside nationally renowned performers - inspiring people in the North East and Teesside to participate in the folk arts, showcasing professional progression routes within the region. We continue to promote a strategic and ambitious creative programme showcasing the breadth of folk music and folk arts, from cutting edge contemporary to traditionally embedded practice.

 

As I'm sure many of you are aware, we are in an increasingly challenging environment to run grassroots music events and festivals - with many festivals being unable to continue to operate. Grant funding is becoming more competitive, and in the face of rising costs it becomes harder to deliver the work which we are really proud of. 

The project-by-project nature of the grants means that our core costs - paying our freelance team, operational costs such as venue hires and insurance etc. often fall through the cracks. We are passionate about keeping our festival accessible - offering no questions asked discounts on tickets, delivering free activity in the town, and working year round with local community organisations. However, without significant investment these things become unsustainable.
