Cream Tees

These fantastic young musicians from the heart of Teesdale form the award-winning youth band, Cream Tees. Sharing members with the National Youth Folk Ensemble, and having alumni go on to complete the Folk and Traditional Music degree at Newcastle University, this is a group of seriously passionate and talented young people.

Cream Tees are no strangers to the stages of the UK Folk Festival scene, having been invited to play at Hartlepool, Towersey and Sidmouth Folk Festival, Whitby Folk Week over the last 7 years, and of course, Saltburn Folk Festival.

Outside of the festival season, Cream Tees have lots of opportunities to perform, from collaborations with Opera North and the Durham Music Service, as well as local concerts and special events.

In 2021, with live music still impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, Cream Tees were invited to participate in Whitby Folk Week’s ‘Whitby at Home’. The band created a live recording, which was then streamed to the Whitby audiences online.
