George Sansome and Sophie Crawford
Queer Folk

George Sansome and Sophie Crawford are the founders of Queer Folk – an organisation that researches queer music and champions LGBTQIA+ musicians. Since finding a wealth of LGBTQIA+ folk music in the archives, they now perform these songs together accompanied by guitar, bouzouki, and accordion.

Sophie’s album Silver Pin was Mainly Norfolk’s album of the year in 2018, and as an actor musician she was first to play the Songwoman in ‘War Horse’ on the West End. George’s debut solo album was one of Songlines magazine’s “Essential 10 Folk Albums of 2020” and he also plays with BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award nominees Granny’s Attic, and in a duo with Matt Quinn.

Queer Folk now runs queer ceilidhs, a monthly radio show and an annual course at Halsway manor with a new album on the way!

Together, Sophie and George are spreading queer folk music far and wide!
